What are UTM parameters?
UTM parameters are tags you add to a URL so your analytics tool can attribute a visit to a specific source, medium, and campaign. The five standard fields are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content.
Tips for clean tracking
- Use lowercase consistently —
Googleandgooglebecome separate sources. - Pick a naming convention for campaigns and stick to it across the team.
- Only tag external links; never add UTMs to internal navigation.
